First Year Admission Based Competitive Examination

Admission by competitive examination is done as part of the syllabuses for the MP (Mathematics et Physics), PC (Physics et Chemistry), PSI (Engineering Physics et Sciences), TSI (Technology, Science et Innovation), and PT (Physics et Technology) courses of study for preparatory classes for the scientific Grandes Ecoles. For each course of study, there is a brochure available providing instructions relating to the competitive examination, and that specifies enrolment procedure conditions, the examination procedure (nature, timetable and test coefficients), and the written and oral examination centers.

Candidates coming from PT courses of study for preparatory classes for the scientific Grandes Ecoles

The entrance examination for the PT scientific preparatory classes is managed by the PT databank. Candidates from this course may consult and download the brochure from the PT databank web server (http://www.banquept.fr).

Competitive examination for foreign students

In addition to the possibility of gaining admission via the same channels as French applicants, there are two competitive examinations set aside for foreign applicants; the «Foreigners’» Competitive Examination for MP, PC and PSI preparatory classes and the Special Competitive Examination as part of the «International» cycle for MP and PC preparatory classes.

The 'Foreigners’' Competitive Examination is held in France. The tests are the same as the ones for the 'Central-Supélec' Competitive Examination, with the exception of the language test, and the different writing coefficient applied. This examination is reserved for foreigners who have been awarded the French Baccalauréat, or a foreign diploma which is accepted as being equivalent to the French Baccalauréat with a view to undertaking university studies. In addition, such individuals must have completed preparatory training for admission to either French or foreign engineering schools.

The Special Competitive Examination for international cycle is reserved for foreign students who have not studied at a higher level in France.

The written examination is held abroad in countries such as Lebanon, Morocco, Syria and Tunisia where there are training courses linked to the preparatory course syllabus. The oral examination is held at the Ecole Centrale, in Paris.
