The ECTS System
ECTS, an English acronym for the European Credit Transfer System, is set up with the objective of promoting academic recognition of studies in a foreign country. Above all, it is a methodology destined to facilitate the recognition of students’ academic results thanks to the use of ratings understood in the same way by all - credits and marks - as well as offering a better understanding of national systems of post-secondary learning.
ECTS at Supélec
4 ECTS credits are attributed for each module of the core curriculum (excluding projects) if the module is associated with a laboratory study, otherwise it is worth 3 credits. Each elective module (excluding languages and APS) represents 2 ECTS credits. Each project represents 4 ECTS credits. Finally, each half-module of a language (corresponding to 7 sessions of 1 H 30) represents one ECTS credit.
As for the transcript, the ECTS rating scale is adopted as in the following chart :
| ECTS Mark | Percentage of students admitted obtaining the mark | Definition |
| A | 10 | Excellent |
| B | 25 | Very good |
| C | 30 | Good |
| D | 25 | Satisfactory |
| E | 10 | Pass |
| F | - | Insufficient |
