Tackled issues go of the generation of the electromagnetic waves (conception of antennas), of the interaction of the electromagnetic waves with complex media (composite materials to the environment (forest)), to the measure of these electromagnetic waves (conception of probes and sensors, uses of the near-field techniques). The waves can, among others, be used for the detection, the non-destructive control and the systems of imaging (radar, inverse problems, microwave camera).
This technological progress is not made without engendering an electromagnetic pollution (electromagnetic compatibility, radio compatibility, exposure of the persons in the electromagnetic waves).
These studies ally theory, modelling and experiment. The experimental equipments developed by Supélec are many (original measurement setups for the characterization of materials in thin or thick layers, anechoic chambers, réverbération chambers, dosimetric facilities,…).
