Supelec students have to complete at least one semester of study or a 16-weeks industrial placement abroad to be awarded their Supélec engineering degree.
Non-degree study period (1 semester or 1 year)
Our students can integrate one of our partner universities
for one semester or one year of full-time engineering studies. They are required to obtain at least 30 ECTS credits per semester (or local equivalent).
On successful completion of their second year, Supélec students are given the opportunity to do their final specialisation year at a reputable university abroad.
As they have already successfully completed 4 years of engineering studies, they are awarded a 'Gradué en Sciences de l'Ingénieur' (the equivalent of a good Bachelor of Science in Engineering) which gives them access to various graduate programmes throughout the world. This prolongs their studies by up to a year but leads to the award of a foreign degree (European degree in engineering or Master's degree) in addition to the Supélec degree. Students can choose from a wide variety of engineering subjects such as computer and electrical engineering, aeronautics and astronautical engineering, mathematics and statistics, nuclear physics and financial engineering.
Special agreements between Supélec and the Metz-based campus of the Geogia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech Lorraine
) enable students completing their final year on the Metz campus to attend both the Supélec engineering degree course and the Master's degree course and, as a result, to obtain both degrees under particularly favourable conditions.
Similarly, final year students on the Rennes campus may enrol in the Japanese stream of the "Master d'Administration des Entreprises" offered at the Rennes Institute of Management (IGR - Université de Rennes 1).
In November 2013, Supélec and Xi'An Jiao Tong University
(P.R.China) signed a double degree on Smart Grids, allowing students of both institutions to live a unique and common academic experience
Students at Supelec are expected to complete three industrial interships during their engineering course. These consist of hands-on professional experience within companies, the final industrial project lasting 5 months. Many of our students take the opportunity to do these placements in companies outside France.
