Examples of physics-based processing

Classical SAR image (VV polarisation) of a forest at P-band that contains two targets (a trihedral corner reflector and a truck), indicated with white arrows.
Image obtained with a new SAR processor based on subspaces of plates and trunks responses and with combination of polarimetric information. The truck detection is enhanced. (PhD thesis of F. Brigui)

Radarsat-2 image of San Francisco downtown (C-band, Pauli basis).
SoMa district (at the bottom right) is classified as vegetation.
A new class was added: the slanted buildings (in magenta). A filter was applied on the values of the cross-polarizations. Indeed their average level is stronger for rotated deterministic targets with comparison to distributed and randomly oriented targets.
